Here’s a “NEAT” way of burning more calories!
We all could use a little help over the Holiday Season burning off the excess feasting right? So what are NEAT calories anyway?
N.E.A.T. is an acronym which stands for, “Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis”
So basically, it can be any movement that you’re doing around your regular exercise routines. If you’re exercising to burn calories and or get stronger, that doesn’t count as NEAT.
The key part is “Non-Exercise”. When you walk to the store instead of taking the car, or to the mail box now since it’s no longer delivered to the door for us here in Ontario. Or, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, pacing or fidgeting around while on the phone…. This is all NEAT.
It’s very possible to burn up an additional few hundred calories a day…. Just keep it moving!
